Lighting rules for live candles
Remove packaging and trim the wick before use Always remove labels and any other attachments on new candles before lighting them. If the wick is long, trim it down to about 1 cm – this will prevent soot, high flames, and dripping wax. Never leave candles unattended Candles should not be left alone, extinguish the flame if you leave the room. A simple rule is that whoever lights the candle is responsible for extinguishing it. Watch out for children and pets Keep an eye on both young children and pets when candles are lit. Things can happen quickly. Place candles on a fireproof surface Candles with a flame should always be placed securely on something that cannot catch fire – such as a plate, candle holder, or a surface made of metal, porcelain, sand, or stone. Never place candles directly on a tablecloth or wooden surface. Also, make sure to keep a safe distance from curtains and other items near the candles. Separate the candles from other decorations An open flame and flammable materials are a dangerous combination. Candle holders with decorations are nice, but moss, pine cones, wooden decorations, and other dry natural materials can easily catch fire. A tip for a safer table decoration is to place candles in a glass or lantern with good ventilation at the top. This way, the candle stands securely and away from other decorations. Space the candles apart Place the candles 10 cm or more apart from each other to prevent them from melting into each other – this also applies to tealights. Avoid drafts near candles If there is a draft near the candle, it may burn down faster than desired, causing soot and dripping wax. Be mindful of which candles you place in lanterns It is important that lanterns, glassware, and decorative items that will hold candles also have good ventilation. Without proper ventilation, the wax could potentially become too hot and catch fire. Choose high-quality tealights and make sure the pillar candles are suitable for lanterns. Do not place candles near heat sources Candles placed near a heater or in direct sunlight may melt and change shape – which can lead to dripping wax. Never move a burning candle If you need to move a candle, extinguish it first!

And with this development, it is also more and more accurate to say that LED lights are a fully viable alternative to real candles in many situations.,With LED lights, you can be a bit more flexible in your interior choices. Real candles directly on wood, like in the picture above, is not recommended! Here you can see some of our LED lights - quite lifelike, don't you think?
